About a month ago, I spent a jam packed weekend in NYC. I saw Fences with Denzel Washington, Alvin Aliey at BAM, had more passion fruit sangria at Cafe Espanol  and  Panjazz at Lincoln Center. We had an early dinner  at The Stanton Social before going to Panjazz.

Rather than offering individual starters and main courses, The Stanton Social serves dishes that are designed for sharing among friends and are brought to the table steadily and continuously throughout the meal.

Red Snapper Tacos - creamy avocado & spicy mango

Social Mac and Cheese

French Onion Soup Dumplings

Grilled apple & brie Quesadilla

Rhode Island Style Lobster Roll, chips and Kobe Beef Burger

Cucumber-Vanilla Cosmopolitan
Pineapple 75 Martini

Blood Orange - Jalapeño Margarita

Guava Cinnamon Margarita
The French Onion Soup Dumplings were amazing. The dumplings popped in your mouth, filling it with french onion soup. DELICIOUS! The Social mac and cheese was also good. My fav cocktail was the Pineapple 75 Martini. The Blood Orange Margarita  with jalapeño-infused Milagro Reposado was not so delicious. We had a few other items we ate before I remembered I was on photographer duty. I had the Strawberry Fields cocktail was just OK. We ate the Grilled Ovendried Tomato Pizzetta which was like flat-bread topped with mozzarella and roasted garlic. The atmosphere: nice, food: good and drinks: yummy. I would definitely visit again.
Here is a list of fetes for Spice Mas 2010 in Grenada for their carnival. There are 3 different Glow/wear white fetes in one night. I guess they  make it easy to do some fete hopping.

Since this will be my first  Spice Mas, I'm trying to get familiar with some of the soca tunes for this carnival season. Sounding good so far...

I'm also excited about playing j'ouvert and Monday night mas.

Many revellers begin their Carnival marathon at the Dimarche Gras Show and continue straight into the J’Ouvert celebrations, where in the early hours of Monday morning,
Blackened with stale molasses, tar, grease, creosote or mud, and wearing little more than their horned helmets, these masqueraders in previous times set out to terrify onlookers with their grotesque appearance and repulsive dances.
In modern times, the traditional Jab-Molassi have mutated into other creatures of colour, with Blue, Yellow and Green Devils joining in the early morning parade. These colourful devils are much more playful in character, wanting only to dab a bit of their body paint onto unsuspecting bystanders, as they dance through the streets to the rhythms of the accompanying drums, steel bands and calypsos from huge DJ trucks.
The Ole Mas bands are the only other inhabitants in the early morning, bringing international and local events to the fore through their double entendre (or double talk) placards and satirical costumes.
Carnival Monday ends with the Monday Night Mas' street jump-up, where party goers in brightly coloured T-shirt bands, wave fluorescent wands and dance through the streets into the wee hours of the Tuesday morning.

So far, I like Pupa Leendi : Ragging jab jab.

Now, I have to do some research on things to do and places to see while in Grenada...

"I hear di weatherman say... dat no carnival deh cause too much heat dung dey ey ey"
" Mr. Man must be mad nothing stop carnival we still jammin all day"

But I'm loving Dung Dey.
"digi digi dung dey"
"don vex if I wine on your sweet man...me and meh crew getting on BAD BAD BAD"

I need to see the dance for this song. I'm officially hype for Antigua's carnival!

Back in May,  I shared Problem Child's new song, Delinquent. This big chune is produced by fellow Virgin Islander, Kamau Georges. Here's the video.
