On Sunday, I had brunch with my girls at Rosebud in Morningside, just outside of Virginia-Highlands. I had no clue what to expect but good food. The ambiance was hype with loud music and chatter. Our server wasn't the best which made me ask him if he was having a bad day. He should have called in sick or taken a personal day. I'll only go back to have the Big Nasty, I'm curious.

I started off with a Mimosa with Chambord. My girls had the Orange Thing- vodka, grand marnier and orange pellegrino. We also had the sweet corn muffin as our morning starter.

I had the ultimate pancake (it's stuffed)- local sausage, smoke bacon and scrambled eggs. YUMMY!!!

Bumm and B. had the egg rolls - egg, shittakes, green onion, aged cheddar and Asian ketchup. I didn't try them but they must have been good since they both ate them all.

Bumm also had the eugene onlette - roasted zucchini, local mushrooms, local peppers, midnight moon cheese and grits. I've never really had grits...these were yummy.

B. had a lonely waffle with whip cream...

Since I will not be in NYC for Labor Day Carnival...I'm on the hunt for something to get into this weekend here in ATL. Here's a list that sparks my interest and has been nice vibes in the past:

I ended my rough work week at Flip Burger Boutique last week Friday. It was yummy albeit I was sick. We had:

Philly Burger: Caramelized onions, green peppers, ketchup and American cheese foam (real)

Turkey Burger: Avocado, tomato, alfalfa sprouts, pomegranate ketchup

Rice Krispy Milk shake

Peach Sweet Tea: Firefly sweet tea, vodka, peach schnapps, sour, sprite

Everything was great. The decor was nice...very modern, the menu was delish...very eclectic and the cocktails did their job...put me to sleep. I momentarily forgot I was sick.

The weekend before my NYC trip we decided on an impromptu outing. My dear friend at eat.drink.frolic suggested the Sound Table a few weeks ago. The Sound Table is owned by the same restaurateurs who owns TopFlr which we both heart; so this was an easy choice.

Parking was a challenge at the Sound Table which is located at 483 Edgewood Ave and Boulevard in the historic Old Fourth Ward. The ambiance was cool and the menu VERY interesting.

I started with a glass of Picpoul which will now be in my wine rotation.  It's a white wine that's smooth and crisp. I can tell it would be very easy to overindulge.

Bumm had a Pink City Ricky - Bilberry Vodka, Lime, Pink Peppercorn, Thyme syrup and Soda. Yes, thyme and peppercorn.  It took some getting use to but will get it again for sure.

The plates are small and they encourage sharing. We had the Belgian style frites with housemade mayonnaise, Chinese pork ribs char grilled with red chili, soy sauce and scallions (YUMMY), Cece Fritos which are pan fried chickpeas, lemon and crispy capers. We also had the Spatchcock grilled chicken and the vegetable spring rolls. We enjoy everything we ordered and WILL be back especially to enjoy the DJ!
Come mingle and party with Atlanta's premier Caribbean destination for Atlanta Carnival Weekend!

ATLANTA CARNIVAL MEMORIAL WEEKEND

ANT SESSION ~ ANTOLOGY

FRIDAY MAY 28, 2010

10pm-2:30am

REGGAE & SOCA/CALYPSO PARTY
@
MF ROOM BUCKHEAD

ANT Session last year was a blast. It was the best fete we attended and has kicked Machel off the line up for this year. Good music! Good Food! Friends! Vibes! We were just wondering if they were having a session this year. I'm happy because this year Atlanta Carnival’s fete selection is just ok. Carnival Explosion on Saturday is now almost a definite.

Our fete line up for DC carnival has changed. Looks like we'll be going to Machel in DC so, no ValeVibe :(
Atlanta Carnival is quickly approaching and we still don't have a game plan. I'm trying to be strategic since I'll probably be going to DC, Toronto, Antigua, Grenada and Miami's carnival. I don't want to see the same shows over and over again. Here is a list of happenings:

On Friday, Machel is leading the pack...only because we want to go to ValeVibe in DC and he will be performing that same night. So, we'll see Machel in Atlanta and go ValeVibe in DC. Carnival Explosion on Saturday is a possibility; I don't like the venue but it looks like the best bang for my buck.
